Place: SuperDARN Hokkaido radar site (Rikubetsu-Town, Hokkaido, Japan)

Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) 2019 Onsite School was held during June 8-9, 2019, at the SuperDARN Hokkaido radar site, which belongs to the Rikubetsu Observatory of Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE), Nagoya University. It was held right after the SuperDARN 2019 Workshop at Highland Resort Hotel & Spa (Fujiyoshida city, Yamanashi, Japan; at the foot of Mt.  The SuperDARN is a network of High Frequency (HF) radars located in the high- and mid-latitude regions of both hemispheres that is used to study the dynamics of the ionosphere and upper atmosphere on global scales. There are a total of 36 SuperDARN radars, 23 in the northern hemisphere and 13 in the southern hemisphere. There are two SuperDARN radars located in Rikubetsu Town, about 20 km away from the Rikubetsu Observatory. During the school, the participants listened to the description of the basic principle of the radar system at the Rikubetsu Observatory, and then joined the tour to the radar site.
